An Exhibition of Recent Works by Claire Forbes

Artist Statement :
Born and educated in Nelson, Claire was brought up in a creative family. Her mother worked as an internationally recognized botanical artist and her father and step-father were potters; a career she took up upon leaving school. After travelling overseas she attended Nelson Polytechnic in 1993/4, specializing in oil painting.

Another period of travel followed and on returning to Nelson she continued painting as well as working on commissions for book illustration.

Claire has been concentrating on watercolours since moving to Timaru in 2004 and has exhibited locally and around New Zealand since 2007. She is married with two children.
